Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston Tea Party

Boston Tea Party

Pinkies up! Boston is known for tea because of the Boston Tea Party that occurred in 1773. This momentous event that forever changed the course of American history is commemorating its 250th anniversary this year with dynamic programming and exhibits, installations and performances.

Tea also holds a special place in Fairmont Copley Plaza history. Back in the day, we hosted afternoon tea in our famed Tea Court which was attended by elegantly dressed and of-society Bostonians. During the 1930s, our Oval Ballroom was the scene of popular tea dances.
To celebrate the Tea Party anniversary and our own tea past, we are offering a yearlong opportunity to discover the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum with a Fairmont rate for two adults. Plus a tea-themed welcome amenity that includes a cocktail and dessert.

The “Griffin’s Wharf” cocktail, named after the location where the December 16, 1773 destruction of the tea occurred, features Bombay sapphire, italicus, green tea and honey. For dessert, a White Chocolate Semifreddo with earl grey sugar & a hazelnut praline, served properly inside a vintage tea cup.
